HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course has been developed to ensure students have the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current

Course Overview: This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This course is designed for anyone who may be required to perform CPR in a workplace or community setting. training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

Target Audience: Individuals who are required to hold CPR for work requirements or industry accreditation in the civil, construction,electrical, rail or mining industries.

Entry requirements/ What to Bring: Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification and be physically capable of performing at least 4 minutes of CPR on a combination of adult and infant CPR manikins. Apply for or retrieve your USI number at www.usi.gov.au

Prerequisites: Nil

Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Duration: Initial Training: 4 hrs         Renewal Training: 2 hrs

Learning Outcomes: on successful completion of this course learners will have an understanding of first aid codes of practice, ARC guidelines, AED operation and workplace procedures inclusive of:

    • Managing an unconscious, breathing casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise in line with ARC guideline (3)
    • Managing an unconscious, non-breathing adult in line with ARC guideline (8) including:
    • How to perform adult, child and infant C.P.R, wit
    • How to apply and follow the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
    • How to hand over the casualty to emergency services
    • How to report the incident
    • Conduct a review of the incident

Physical Requirements: This course includes a physical component,  participants will be required to participate in role play activities, practical assessments and be able to perform a minimum of 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

HLTAID011 – Provide first aid 

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current

Course Overview: The Provide First Aid course provides the skills and knowledge required to administer first aid, basic life support in an emergency and CPR. This course is trained in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

The course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognition of an emergency situation
  • Identifying, assessing and managing immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
  • Assessment of a casualty and recognise the need for first aid response
  • Assessing the situation and seek assistance from emergency response services
  • Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
  • Providing first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Displaying respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Obtaining consent from casualty where possible
  • Using available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
  • Operating first aid equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions to manage casualty’s with the following:
    • anaphylaxis
    • asthma
    • non-life-threatening bleeding
    • choking
    • envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
    • fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, using appropriate immobilisation techniques
    • minor wound cleaning and dressing
    • nosebleed
    • shock
  • Monitoring the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Accurately conveying incident details to emergency response services
  • Reporting details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
  • Maintaining confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
  • Recognition of the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers involved in critical incidents
  • Participation in debriefing to address individual needs
  • All training provided is in line with the latest  Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

Target Audience: The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.  

Entry Requirements/What to Bring: Participants in first aid courses provided by Intuitive Training must be 14 years of age and older, (if under 18 years of age a consent form must be signed by legal guardian). 

  • Participants must have adequate communication skills and understanding to complete the course (English language, numeracy and literacy). Participant s requiring support must contact our administration staff to arrange additional support before attending a course.
  • Participants will be required to complete involved in role play activities and will be required to 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR to an adult and infant mannequin placed in the floor.
  • If you feel it would be difficult for you to participate or perform basic tasks, please contact our administration office prior to training. 
  • Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment, provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand english and basic calculations 

Pre-requisites: This unit has no pre-requisites

Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current

Course Overview: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

Target Audience: This course applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring: Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand English and basic calculations

Prerequisites: This course has no pre-requisites

Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Duration:

Precourse reading/learning: Up to 8 hours of pre-course reading

Face to face learning: 9 hours face to face training in a classroom environment

Learning Outcomes: This course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognise an emergency situation

  • Assess the situation and seek assistance from emergency response services

  • Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Accurately convey details of the incident to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to supervisor
  • Complete relevant workplace documentation, including incident report form
  • Report details of incidents involving babies and children to parents and/or caregivers
  • Follow workplace procedures to report serious incidents to the regulatory authority
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self, other rescuers and children
  • Talk with children about their emotions and responses to events
  • Participate in debriefing with supervisor

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

UETDRMP010 – Provide first aid in an ESI environment

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current

Course Overview: This course covers the provision of first aid in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. It includes the recognition and provision of an initial response where first aid is required in emergency situations by providing essential first aid using basic life support measures according to established workplace first aid policies and procedures.

The course will provide learners with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Application of relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measure
  • Checking site for danger to self, casualty and others
  • Management of electrical burns plus one other of the following:
    • bites or stings
    • shock
    • bleeding
    • electrical shock
    • monitoring and managing victim
    • raising alarm with emergency services.

Target Audience: This course is applicable to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations within the ESI industry sector.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:

  • Learners attending first aid courses provided by Intuitive Training must be 14 years of age and older, (if under 18 years of age a consent form must be signed by legal guardian).
  • Learners must have adequate communication skills and understanding to complete the course (English language, numeracy and literacy). Learners requiring support must contact our administration staff to arrange additional support before attending a course.

Learning Outcomes: This course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the provision of first aid in an emergency situation encompassing:

    • assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
    • involvement of external emergency services
    • the treatment of electrical burns, shock, bites, stings, bleeding and electric shock
  • Skills required to provide first aid in an emergency situation encompassing:
    • controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
    • use of available first aid equipment and resources
    • injury management using first aid principles.

All training provided is in line with the latest  Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for UETTDRRF10 Provide first aid in an ESI environment

Cost: $95 per participant
