Intuitve Training is aware of specific concerns  raised by sudents about the transmission of the virus while performing ventilations on mannikins.

The potential for transmission of the virus is significantly reduced if proper infection control procedures are followed, which involves excluding anyone who shows symptoms of the virus.

Intuitive Training continues to monitor all available information and implement a flexible approach to our face to face courses. 

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Course Currency Status: (Release 5) Current 

Course Overview: This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is developed for existing workers in the industry who may require CPR training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

Target Audience: Individuals who are required to hold CPR for work requirements or industry accreditation in the civil, construction,electrical, rail or mining industries.

Entry requirements/ What to Bring: Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification and be physically capable of performing at least 4 minutes of CPR on a combination of adult and infant CPR manikins. Prerequisites: Nil

Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Duration: Initual Training: 4 hrs         Renewal Training: 2hrs

Learning Outcomes: There must be demonstrated evidence that the learner has completed the following tasks at least once in line with state/ territory regulations, first aid codes of practice, ARC guidelines and workplace procedures:

  • Conducted a hazard assessment and identified strategies to minimise risk
  • Demonstrated safe manual handling techniques
  • Assessed airway, breathing and responsiveness of casualty
  • Performed at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an adult and an infant resuscitation manikins placed on the floor, demonstrating the following techniques on each: – checking for response and normal breathing – recognising abnormal breathing – opening and clearing the airway – using correct hand location, compression depth rate in line with the ARC recommended ratio of compressions and ventilations – acting in the event of regurgitation or vomiting – following single rescuer procedure, including the demonstration of a rotation of operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
  • Followed the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Provided an accurate verbal report of the incident
  • Responded to at least one simulated resuscitation scenario contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting.

Knowledge Evidence: Learners must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of the unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the work role.

This includes knowledge of:

  • State/territory regulations
  • First aid codes of practice and workplace procedures including:
    • ARC Guidelines relevant to the provision of CPR – safe work practices to minimise risks and potential hazards – requirements for currency of skill and knowledge
    • Legal, workplace and community considerations, including: – need for stress-management techniques and available support following an emergency situation – duty of care requirements – respectful behaviour towards a casualty – own skills and limitations – consent – privacy and confidentiality requirements – importance of debriefing
  • Considerations when providing CPR, including:
    • airway obstruction due to body position – appropriate duration and cessation of CPR – appropriate use of an AED – chain of survival – standard precautions
    • Basic anatomy and physiology relating to: – absence of normal breathing – anatomy of the external chest – physiology relating to response/consciousness – upper airway anatomy and effect of positional change work safely with others Job planning and preparation   

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid

HLTAID003 – Provide first aid 

Course Currency Status: (Release 6) Current 

Course Overview: The Provide First Aid course provides the skills and knowledge required to administer first aid, basic life support in an emergency and CPR. This course is trained in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

The course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognition of an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess and manage immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response
  • Assess the situation and seek assistance from emergency response services
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Display respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Obtain consent from casualty where possible
  • Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
  • Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
  • Recognisethepossiblepsychologicalimpactsonselfandother rescuers involved in critical incidents
  • Participate in debriefing to address individual needs
  • All training provided is in line with the latest  Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

Target Audience: The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.  

Entry Requirements/What to Bring: Participants in first aid courses provided by Intuitive Training must be 14 years of age and older, (if under 18 years of age a consent form must be signed by legal guardian). 

Participants must have adequate communication skills and understanding to complete the course (English language, numeracy and literacy). Participant s requiring support must contact our administration staff to arrange additional support before attending a course.

Participants will be required to complete involved in role play activities and will be required to 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR to an adult and infant mannequin placed in the floor.

If you feel it would be difficult for you to participate or perform basic tasks, please contact our administration office prior to training. 

Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment, provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand english and basic calculations

Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

Course Currency Status: (Release 5) Current

Course Overview: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

Target Audience: This course applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring: Participants must provide a USI number on enrolment and provide photographic identification on enrolment. Participants must provide and wear their own PPE for this course. This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand English and basic calculations

Prerequisites: This course has no pre-requisites

Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Duration:

Precourse reading/learning: Up to 8 hours of pre-course reading

Face to face learning: 9 hours face to face training in a classroom environment

Learning Outcomes: This course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Recognise an emergency situation
  • Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for first aid response
  • Assess the situation and seek assistance from emergency response services
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines
  • Provide first aid in accordance with established first aid principles
  • Ensure casualty feels safe, secure and supported
  • Obtain consent from casualty, caregiver, registered medical practitioners or medical emergency services where possible
  • Use available resources and equipment to make the casualty as comfortable as possible
  • Operate first aid equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
  • Monitor the casualty’s condition and respond in accordance with first aid principles
  • Accurately convey details of the incident to emergency response services
  • Report details of incident to supervisor
  • Complete relevant workplace documentation, including incident report form
  • Report details of incidents involving babies and children to parents and/or caregivers
  • Follow workplace procedures to report serious incidents to the regulatory authority
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self, other rescuers and children
  • Talk with children about their emotions and responses to events
  • Participate in debriefing with supervisor

Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

UETTDRRF10 Provide first aid in an ESI environment

UETTDRRF10 – Provide first aid in an ESI environment

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current 

Course Overview: This course covers the provision of first aid in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. It includes the recognition and provision of an initial response where first aid is required in emergency situations by providing essential first aid using basic life support measures according to established workplace first aid policies and procedures.

The course will provide learners with skills and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Application of relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measure
  • Checking site for danger to self, casualty and others
  • Management of electrical burns plus one other of the following:
    • bites or stings
    • shock
    • bleeding
    • electrical shock
    • monitoring and managing victim
    • raising alarm with emergency services.

Target Audience: This course is applicable to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations within the ESI industry sector.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring: Learners attending first aid courses provided by Intuitive Training must be 14 years of age and older, (if under 18 years of age a consent form must be signed by legal guardian).

Duration: 2.5hrs

Learning Outcomes: This course will provide students with skills and knowledge in the provision of first aid in an emergency situation encompassing:

      • assessing hazards to rescuer, victim and others
      • involvement of external emergency services
      • the treatment of electrical burns, shock, bites, stings, bleeding and electric shock
    • Skills required to provide first aid in an emergency situation encompassing:
      • controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others
      • use of available first aid equipment and resources
      • injury management using first aid principles.

    All training provided is in line with the latest  Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

    Assessment: Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations

    On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for UETTDRRF10 Provide first aid in an ESI environment

    Cost: $95 per participant
