Course Overview: This nationally recognised course is designed to equip workers who operate as safety observers/ rescue persons in the electrical industry with the knowledge and skills of current legislation, their basic duty of care, understanding and management of risks arising when an above ground worker requires a rescue from an EWP.
Training sessions will include procedures, controls and emergency response requirements for those hazards present when performing Elevating work platform rescue.
Target Audience: Telco, Electrical Contractors and NBN workers who are required to operate as safety observers and may be required to perform pole top rescue in an emergency situation.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Physical Fitness: Participants will be required to complete physical activities to access an EWP to operate emergency controls or retrieval devices to lower the EWP boom to a safe level to remove casualty in a rescue situation.
Participants must have adequate physical fitness to:
- Climb steps to access a truck mounted EWP to access emergency controls or retrieval devices.
- Operate a range of retrival devices to rescue a casualty.
- Lift, carry and lower and drag a rescue dummy up to 50kg in weight from and EWP basket to a safe area.
If you feel it would be difficult for you to participate or perform basic tasks, please contact our administration office prior to training.
Oral communication: This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read and understand english and basic calculations. Participants must be able to communicate in the english language and actively participate in verbal communication.
Writing: Participants must be able to complete simple written forms or records to provide information and complete basic forms.
Numeracy: Participants must be able to understand basic math and formulas to calculate heights and weights.
Digital Skills: Participants must be able to use a portable handheld device (tablet), laptop or PC to access and navigate the internet and complete basic forms.
Participants must supply:
- Proof of holding pre-requsite unit.
- High Risk Work License (WP) if held.
- Photographic identification.
- Hi Vis clothing, protective footwear (steel capped boots)..
- USI Number.

Delivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning
Face to Face Learning
Duration: 4 hrs
Participants complete theory and practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.
Blended Learning
Participants complete online learning prior to attending face to face practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.
Duration: 4hrs
Pre-course reading: Up to 1.5hrs
Face to Face Training and assessment: 2.5hrs
Duration: Initial Training: 4hrs. Renewal Training: 2hrs

Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations
On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for UETDRMP016 Perform EWP rescue.

The registration fee shown below is applied where participants are enrolling into the ESI New worker course.
