UETDRMP002 ESI safety rules for work on, near or in the vicinity of electrical apparatus

Course Currency Status: (Release 1) Current

Course Overview: This nationally recognised course covers the knowledge and application of Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) safety rules and codes of practice for work on or near electrical apparatus. It includes the application of relevant State and Territory safety rules, codes of practice and enterprise based procedures and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels, and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Target Audience:Workers who are required to perform work on or near to overhead or underground electric lines in accordance with electricity distribution network requirements. This could include safety observers / spotters required to work safely up to the defined safe approach distance near energised electrical apparatus (including electrical powerlines).

Please Note: NSW Electricity Networks require training be conducted using Electrical Safety Rules specific to their network.

Intutitive Training is approved to deliver NSW safety Rules for:

  • Essential Energy (refresher courses only)
  • Endeavour Energy (initial and refresher courses)

Entry Requirements / What to Bring:

Writing: Participants must be able to read tables and complete simple written forms or records to provide information.

Oral communication: Participants must be able to communicate in the English language and actively participate in verbal communication.

Numeracy: Participants must be able to understand basic math and calculations.

Digital Skills: Participants must be able to use a portable handheld device (tablet), laptop or PC to access and navigate the internet and complete basic forms.

Participants must supply:

  • Photographic identification.
  • White Card (Construction Safety Induction Card).
  • Comfortable clothing, Steel Capped Boots/ Safety Footwear.
  • USI Number.

Pre-requisites: Nil.

Note: Participants attending refrsher trainining in Essential Energy or Endeavour Energy Safety Rules must provide proof of initial training in Electrical Safety Rules for one or both these networks within the previous 12 months.

Deelivery Mode: This course may be delivered by face to face delivery or blended learning

Face to Face Learning

Duration: 4 hrs

Participants complete theory and practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.

Blended Learning

Participants complete online learning prior to attending face to face practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.

Duration: 4 hrs

Pre-course reading: Up to 2.5hrs

Face to Face Training and assessment: 1.5hrs

Assessment

Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations

On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for UETDRMP002 ESI safety rules for work on, near or in the vicinity of electrical apparatus.
