Low voltage connection manual (Refresher)
Overview
This course replaces M292 Connections to the LV Network effective 01/07/2025
Course Overview: This refresher course is a non-accredited, Energex (EsiTrain) approved training course designed for electrical contractors and their staff who access the Energex LV network.
Refresher training is required to be completed at 6 monthly intervils to meet Energy Queensland (EQL) authorisation requirements
Target Audience: Electrical contractors, electricians/ line workers within the ESI industry who curently hold (ACONN authorisation) seeking refresher training.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Participants must:
- Hold a current electrical license (must be sighted on day of training).
- Provide photographic identification upon enrolment.
- Provide and wear their own PPE for this course (Safety Glasses, LV Gloves with inners and outers).
- Be within the required 6 monthly refresher period.
- Provide proof of previous training.

Delivery Mode: This course is delivered by face to face delivery.
Duration: 2 hours.
Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
Participants should be able to demonstrate:
- Describe the MEN system
- Explain regulation voltages applicable in Queensland
- Test connections to the LV electricity network
- Follow the requirements of Work Practice 1202
- Test connections to a customer’s premises
- Complete required documentation in relation to connections to the LV network

- Test connections to a customer’s premises
- Complete required documentation in relation to connections to the LV network
- Understanding of EQL Low Voltage Connections Manual
Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers including a 1 hour theory refresher session including, updates to EQL’s connections manual and a theory assessment and 1 hour practical live testing assessment.
On Completion: Participants must be able to demonstrate correct testing procedure against as per EQL connections manual including:
- Isolation of an Installation.
- Testing at Switchboard.
- Testing at LV Mains for Connecting of a Customers Installation.
Assessment must include 1 of the following:
- Testing a Conductive Streetlight Standard (Internal MEN).
- Testing a Streetlight Installed on a Non-Conductive Pole.
Successful Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attendance issued by Intuitive Training.
