Overview
This nationally recognised course developed to equip particpiants with the skills and knowledge needed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It prepares participants to provide CPR in a variety of situations, including both community and workplace settings.

Course Overview: This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

- ANZCOR Guideline 8 – Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
This course is designed for anyone who may need to perform CPR in a workplace or community setting. The training follows the guidelines recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).
Target Audience: Workers and individuals in health and fitness, civil, construction, electrical, rail or mining industries who are required to hold CPR to:
- Meet and comply with workplace requirements
- Meet industry first aid accreditation/ authorisation requirements
- Update or maintain C.P.R competency to meet Code of Practice/ First aid, workplace and accredoitation/authorisation requirements.

Entry Requirements/What to Bring:
Participants in first aid courses provided by Intuitive Training must be 14 years of age and older, (if under 18 years of age a consent form must be signed by legal guardian).
Physical Fitness: Participants will be required to complete involved in role play activities and will be required to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult mannequin placed on the floor and 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR infant mannequin placed on a firm surface.
Participants must have adequate physical fitness to:
- Lift, move and carry a rescue manikin up to 50kg in weight and position into the recovery position.
- Bend and move between standing and kneeling positions safely.
- Kneel on the floor to assess causality’s condition and perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of uninterrupted CPR on an adult mannequin placed on the floor.
- Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.

Oral communication: This course contains safety critical information requiring participants have the ability to read, write and understand english and basic calculations
- Participants must be able to communicate in the english language and actively participate in verbal communication.
Writing: Participants must be able to complete simple written forms or records to provide information and complete basic forms.
Numeracy: Participants must be able to understand basic timing and CPR cycle counting.
Digital Skills: Participants must be able to use a portable handheld device, laptop or PC to access and navigate the internet and complete basic forms.
Participants must supply:
- Photographic identification
- Comfortable clothing (allow for bending, kneeling, sitting and standing) closed in footwear.

Face to Face Learning
Duration: 4 hrs
Participants complete theory and practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.
Blended Learning
Participants complete online learning prior to attending face to face practical training and assessment in a suitable environment at our premises or in their workplace.

Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course learners will have an understanding of first aid codes of practice, ARC guidelines, AED operation and workplace procedures inclusive of:
- Managing an unconscious, breathing casualty including appropriate positioning to reduce the risk of airway compromise in line with ARC guideline (3)
- Managing an unconscious, non-breathing adult in line with ARC guideline (8) including:
- How to perform adult, child and infant C.P.R
- How to apply and follow the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- How to hand over the casualty to emergency services
- How to report the incident
- Conduct a review of the incident

Assessment
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.
On Completion: Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
